Key Skills & Background
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years experience in a DevOps role
- Track record of coding and Scripting a wide variety of languages, including Ubuntu, Python, NodeJS and Javascript.
- Experience using a wide variety of open source technologies and tools - Go, Docker, Jenkins
- Proven experience of systems security and of writing secure code.
- Strong experience of working with applications and systems that involve structured and unstructured data.
- Strong grasp of automation tools and cloud services - Microsoft Azure/AWS/Google Cloud
- Experience with systems and IT operations.
Desirable:
- Experience of working in an agile environment that delivers frequent, incremental code testing and deployment.
- Experience of the healthcare industry is a bonus.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to play a leading role in our new product team, which is focused on Machine Learning and predictive analysis.
The team are combining IoT home monitoring, medical data, predictive analytics and clinical expertise to develop a service in the social/domiciliary care industry - a service that will have a real impact on real lives, by enabling people to live in their own homes for longer. It is supported by NICE, InnovateUK and the University of Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Data Scientists, Analysts and Engineers in the development and management of automated data pipelines using Real Time IoT feeds and ad-hoc data feeds.
- Lead the debate on systems architecture, edge and Embedded security, and product infrastructure.
- Lead the deployment of automated predictive analysis and decision-making applications developed by the product team.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders, inside and external to the business, to ensure a high degree of trust in our products.

- Ability to communicate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Flexibility - comfortable moving from one area of software construction to another, be it integration, testing, releasing or deployment.
- Great Scripting skills - ability to dive right in to different coding languages.
- Highly collaborative and capable of conversing with non-techies.
- Fluent in English with strong writing skills.
