The Data Scientist Intern
is responsible for designing and driving a project to improve our
search engine. Potential internship projects include: developing
relevance ranking models, designing and evaluating new relevance
metrics, learning representations for our products (images and text) and
our users, query understanding, product description enrichment, etc.

Your challenge:
- Perform analyses to identify improvement opportunities of our search engine
- Apply machine learning, NLP and deep learning methods to our massive data sets
- Implement prototypes to show the potential value of the project
- Implement the solution at scale
- Communicate the insights to R&D and Product teams
To get there, you’ll need:
- PhD. or advanced MSc. student in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields
- Strong software development skills (preferably Python, Java or Scala)
- Strong quantitative skills (statistics, probability, machine learning) as well as knowledge of algorithms/data structures
Nice to have:
- Strong knowledge of the theory and practice of controlled experiments
- Experience with recommender systems
- Knowledge of NLP and Computer Vision tools and algorithms
- Familiarity with building and deploying data pipelines and services in AWS
