At Preply, we are constantly running hundreds of AB tests, each with specific tracking and analytic requirements. This, along with the wide scope of our product and the sophistication of the tutor/learner interactions, makes for some rewarding challenges.

As part of this role, you’ll study and understand user behavior, design AB Tests for our experimentation platform, analyze the results and provide insights and recommendations to our stakeholders.

You’ll be embedded in cross-functional teams and work closely with product managers, tech leads, designers, etc. to provide our tutors and learners with the best product experience.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Master the dynamics of tutors/learners interaction and the economics of Preply’s marketplace;
  • Produce thorough data analytics of customer behavior and product usage, effectively communicating them to technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Partner with the Supply Product Managers to improve the discovery and activation of new tutors and the performance of the existing ones, by refining product initiatives into lean, experiment-led technical implementations;
  • Quantify the impact of new product features and initiatives in order to identify growth opportunities and help prioritize our roadmap;
  • Design, execute and evaluate experiments on a global scale;
  • Work with Data Strategy & Engineering to define standards and best practices to model data in our Data Warehouse and productionize your data pipelines;
  • Leverage your broad statistical awareness to proactively identify opportunities to improve our existing methods and to create new ones;
  • Make recommendations to leadership team and stakeholders of changes that will impact the company performance;
  • Participate in the definition of engagement metrics and key performance indicators;
  • Build relationships and collaborate with other data and/or technical leaders.

What you need to succeed:

  • Experience as a Data Scientist (around 3 years' experience minimum, more preferably);
  • Good understanding of data analysis concepts such as conversion, LTV/CAC, Cohort analysis, Retention, etc.;
  • Ability to confidently apply data science techniques, such as statistical modeling, in a marketplace context;
  • Knowledge of A/B testing and experiment design;
  • Strong knowledge of quantitative fields (statistics, mathematics, etc.);
  • Strong coding skills in one or more analytics languages (SQL, Python, etc.);
  • Strong curiosity, problem solving and problem finding skills;
  • Creative mindset and proactive attitude towards the creation and evaluation of new hypotheses;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. B1 English is a must.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in Marketplaces and/or digital businesses (B2B, B2C, B2B2C);
  • Experience in Supply analytics;
  • Knowledge of Looker, Tableau, Amplitude or other BI tools;
  • Knowledge of coordination tools (Airflow, Luigi, Jenkins, etc.);
  • Knowledge of version controlling tools (GitHub, GitLab, etc.).
  • Masters degree or PhD in statistics, economics, econometrics, or a relevant field of applied mathematics (or equivalent business experience).
