Everything that backs our apps is built in Ruby - this includes
everything that integrates with any of our several dozen external
services. From marketing platforms, to tracking services to the
integration of other reading devices – it all needs to get connected.

As our Backend and Data Engineer you will:

Create code that follows our motto “The more standards, the better”

Take responsibility in driving the Blinkist data integrations from day one
-
Integrate new Services as several parts of our business start using
new tools. No matter if it is a product, marketing, or finance
integration. You keep things connected.

Handle huge amounts of data and ensure our systems stay up and running processing all the data

Interact closely with our operations and other backend developers to generate simple and scalable solutions

know how to get our scientists and analysts the data they need
Conduct code reviews and participate in regular meetings to ensure
quality and alignment
To do this, we believe you should have:

3+ years of Ruby or Python development experience

Passion for writing clean, elegant, and easily-testable code

You are SOLID
-
You love data and numbers
-
Experience with more than one database, from file storage to nosql
-
Experience with loading huge data sets to an Amazon Redshift is a plus
