Bookassist is a multi-award winning and leading provider of online booking technology, distribution technology, web design and digital strategy services to the hotel industry internationally. Bookassist creates, manages and continuously optimises digital strategies for hotels and hotel groups. We drive our clients’ online business and seek to obtain higher and higher conversion to improve direct booking on our clients’ hotel websites.
Bookassist is expanding rapidly with additional offices in Madrid, Rome, Vienna and Prague and a client base of over 2000 hotels.
We are looking for a PHP or Java Developer to join our expanding Development team.
Please note the ideal candidate would be based in Spain as occasional travel to Madrid will be required.
What will you be doing
You will participate in the maintenance and development of our Booking Engine and CMS backend services and templates.
You will be helping front end developers providing business logic and data processing.
You will work in an agile and collaborative environment.
You will participate in meetings along with architects and other developers in English.
You will be working mainly remotely but attending events based in Madrid.
What we expect from you
Possesses a good knowledge of relational databases and SQL statements.
Possesses knowledge of JavaScript language.
Possesses knowledge of XML/XSL and Json data structure.
Feel comfortable working with version control tools (Git).
Fluency in English.
Generate and submit status reports, time and expense reports on time.
A recognised and relevant 3rd qualification.
Desirable
Working experience with Tomcat, Apache, J2EE servers, Node, JMS, Perl, maven, Gradle, Jenkins, JUnit, JMeter.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Working knowledge of AWS
Experience with Spring-Boot Framework
Experience with CMS (Expression Engine, Drupal, WordPress...)
Working experience with React or MVC frameworks.
HTML5, CSS3, CSS preprocessors (SASS), Bootstrap.
Working experience with Web Services technology, SOAP, WSDL, Rest and / or any XML API.
Working experience with Unix development and integration environments.
Experience on Agile methodologies, Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration.
Preferably experience in Hospitality development projects.
