Job Description

At DVELP, we are about loving what we do. We love to learn, we love to experiment and we love to make the best products we can with the best tools we can find. We’re brave, we work hard and at our core we are about quality.

We are building an environment where we can work hard and sleep easy, where we can work remotely, but as part of a community, to deliver products globally.

We want to be challenged, be encouraged to ‘dare’, to think openly and not be restrained by corporate policy. We want to be better.

We are looking to complete the cornerstones of our business and we want you to help us.

So, What’s the role?

As a lead DVELP’r you’ll be spending most of your time doing the thing you love; coding.

When you’re not actually coding, you’ll probably be thinking about it. About how we can do it better, about which resources we can use to make it easier, quicker and most importantly, more enjoyable.

We expect that you’ll know how to solve most coding challenges, but understand that creating beautiful, well-written code requires thought and dedication outside the realms of just ‘getting it done’.

Our culture is to ‘be better’ and you will play an integral part in ensuring our tech and our team is always, better.

What skills do you need?

At a minimum, you’ll need 4 years professional Ruby experience, a pragmatic approach to problem solving and be able to express your opinions and ideas to the team in a coherent manner.

You will need to be able to write well in order You like to share your experiences and thought-processes, both internally and with the wider whether it is through through blog posts, open source work or conferences.

We are looking for someone who has contributed on large and small projects, both for fun and for work. A skilled engineer who can find the simplest solution from a complex array of problems and identify the most efficient tools for the job, both in the immediate instance and the future.

Experience with these technologies would be awesome: Ruby*, Postgres, Redis/Resque, Nginx, Apache, Git.

*This one’s pretty key, our core focus is around Ruby back-ends.

Are we the right fit for you?

This is the start of something new, something exciting and challenging. We need someone who can work with us, to get stuck-in, be driven to succeed and to consistently push himself/herself.

We’re looking for someone we can share jokes and beers with, someone to join the ride.

Ready for the challenge?

This role is a 'remote first' role.

Please send cover letter (highly important), with CV or LinkedIn profile and anything else you feel appropriate to engage@dvelp.co.uk.
