Your mission:Our beautifully designed app, empowers customers with ultra flexible, personalised cover that’s at their fingertips whenever they need it. Starting with car sharing insurance from as little as an hour, we're building a full stack insurance platform with a 100% mobile frontend, capable of covering any risk, over any duration.
As Android Engineer, you will have the opportunity to build our Android app from the ground up, helping to define both the tech stack and target architecture. You will be laser focused on delivering impactful customer experiences without compromising on engineering quality.
What you'll be doing:
- Defining and building a testable, scalable Android application architecture.
- Building core application functionalities, powered by our RESTful APIs.
- Defining a branded UI kit to enable faster delivery of new features and screens.
- Working with our Backend Engineers to help define Mobile friendly APIs.
- Identifying new technologies which can be exploited to help build a best-in-class customer experience.
- Testing as you go, starting with Unit tests and then eventually Integration & UI testing.
Technologies you’ve mastered:
As our Android app is a greenfield project, you will have the power to help shape what the architecture and tech stack looks like.
Having said that, here are a few things that we feel help build market leading applications:
- Clean, modular and testable architecture. We believe the mobile world has moved beyond MVC.
- Kotlin, a modern statically typed programming language.
- Asynchronous, reactive libraries such as Rx or Kotlin+Coroutines.
- DI frameworks such as Dagger2.
- Robust testing with tools such as Espresso, Mockito and JUnit.
- Automated CI/CD pipelines to help development, not hinder.
