At elmo, we want everyone to drive an electric vehicle as soon as possible.
We believe that new technology should benefit everyone and work for a brighter, cleaner future for our planet.
Our platform removes the cost and complexity from having an electric vehicle. We believe in ‘usership’ not ownership and provide electric vehicles on low-cost and flexible monthly subscriptions with all services (charging, energy, insurance, maintenance and breakdown) included in the price.
This bundled offering makes us the world's first 'total cost of ownership' subscription platform for electric vehicles.
The team led by Oliver Jones (Angel Investment Network, Startup Microdose Podcast) and Luke Gavin (Element Energy, Octopus Energy) has spent 2019 researching the concept, building key relationships and partnerships and, of course, fundraising!
In addition to closing over £300k pre-seed investment from private investors and early involvement from a fund, Olly and Luke have also assembled an advisory team including the founder of Huel, a former Director of Tesla and BMW Group and the former Head of EV at EDF Energy.
👤 The Role
We are now looking for a future mobility enthusiast to be our most senior technical decision maker, responsible for owning and delivering the product, for driving the infrastructural development of the business and for building and managing the technical team.
You will:
- Own key technological and architectural decisions and work with the co-founders to scale up the company
- Help develop a product and technical roadmap which will then be used to as a blueprint for the build
- Develop the product and take responsibility for the deployment and delivery of this highly innovative product
- Work alongside and manage the relationship with our agency to develop a best-in-class and revolutionary launch product
- Hire, manage and set the culture of a team of multi-departmental developers
- Assist with fundraising campaigns to help sponsor the business capitalisation requirements
🎯 Required Skills/Experience
1. Leadership
- Built and led a technical team before and comfortable being responsible for their welfare and development
- Managed a technical project, knowing when to apply appropriate project management strategies and aligning a team around an objective
- Obsessive about delivering new tech and value to our users and customers
- Comfortable explaining technical products and systems to unrelated and non-technical parties (fundraising)
2. Technical
- Experienced in building & scaling mobility tech businesses or similar services
- Demonstrated track-record of delivering well-engineered products with modern technologies for a variety of different problem domains
- Worked on a diverse set of full stack technologies including experience with web, mobile, data and infrastructure
- Appetite for experimenting with new technologies and tools to drive innovation and creativity
3. Product Focus
- Proven delivery of a product to market, ideally in both a B2C and B2B context
- Engaged in the product development process in prior roles
- Experience of knowing when to push for the perfect solution versus a simpler way to move product development forward
- Interest in tracking how the software is being used and keep on top of key technical and user metrics
4. Nice-to-haves
- Genuine interest or experience in mobility/automotive/green energy sectors
- Motivated to join a startup as a founding member, thrives on uncertainty and is able to get the job done
- Strong and established technical network and can leverage this network to build the business
- Strong communication skills
