Eurovision Services is looking for a temporary Software Engineer (Frontend) to work across the full stack of our different media products. This role will cover a maternity leave within our international Software IT team at our Technology Department in the Madrid Office, Spain.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

The Eurovision Services Technology Team is the driving force behind all our technical infrastructure, networks, corporate systems, and software IT. It is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the entire technical landscape, which serves as the foundation for all permanent and event-based operational services for our customers. As part of the Software IT team, you will be working with top international engineers specialised in media and see your developments implemented in Tier 1 global sports and news content.

In this role as a Software Engineer (Frontend) you will:

  • Work across the full stack of different products and solutions based on Agile/SCRUM methodologies in a DevOps environment
  • Analyse requirements, design and write code for new features and user stories
  • Participate in peer reviews and software inspections
  • Identify and correct defects and their root causes
  • Work on the definition of test cases and test automation
  • Partner with solution architects, team members, end users and other development teams
  • Brainstorm with other software engineering teams, product owners and software architects
  • Research new technologies to solve relevant problems, delivering proofs-of-concept as required


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant experience implementing software in Java
  • Some experience with Typescript (Angular)
  • Knowledge of Node.js HTML5 and CSS3 is nice to have
  • Interest and aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Willingness to learn and apply software engineering best practices to your work
  • Some experience with web and application servers like Apache, Tomcat and Nginx ( nice to have)
  • Some knowledge of the following technologies/libraries: Spring, Hibernate nice to have
  • Comfortable with large projects in source control (Git), continuous integration (Jenkins, Bamboo) and writing unit tests (nice to have)
  • Some experience with automated test frameworks like Selenium or Cucumber are (nice to have)
  • Some experience with databases such as MySQL and Postgres
  • Familiar with containerization and Docker platforms, as well as orchestration tools like Kubernetes
  • Familiar scripting in Linux (RedHat, CentOS, Debian)
  • Proficiency in English

About Eurovision Labs:

Eurovision Labs in Madrid is the new technology hub for the EBU's new subsidiary, Eurovision Services. The Labs will be responsible for delivering media & broadcast core solutions applying the most advanced software engineering techniques. The new offices in Madrid are specifically designed to boost creativity and facilitate innovation and learning in an amicable work environment. As part of the technology team, you will be working with top international engineers specialized in media while seeing your developments applied in Tier-1 worldwide sports and news content. Education:

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or similar degree (Master or Bachelor).
