In your daily work, you will be contributing to Red Hat layered products like Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Red Hat OpenShift, interacting with various engineering teams, erasing borders between virtual machines and bare metal, and enabling our customers to implement the next generation of use-cases. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you will do

  • Resolve latency violations and complex kernel issues affecting KVMs and containers running real-time workloads
  • Perform latency analysis of KVMs and containers running real-time workloads

  • Backport Linux kernel features and bug fixes from the latest Linux kernel into older kernels

What you will bring

  • Proficiency in C or C++ programming
  • Proven 4+ years of experience in Linux kernel development

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience in using kernel tracing or extended Berkeley Packet Filter (eBPF)
  • Basic understanding of core Linux kernel subsystems like the scheduler, memory management, and locking
  • Good understanding of the Linux virtualization software stack, e.g., KVM, QEMU, and libvirt
  • Familiarity with the Linux kernel community and open source development model
