About our Fintech team
Our Fintech team is responsible for all the monetary flows within Kiwi.com. We are a team of developers, payment specialists, business & data analysts, and product managers. We are charged with building the pillars of everything related to payments at Kiwi.com – payments from our customers, payments to airlines and travel agencies. We carefully prevent fraudulent behavior and ensure the financial safety of our customers – our impact makes it safer for your travel.
What you will do
- You will contribute to the development and expansion of our fintech backend services, focusing on payment systems, virtual cards and transaction processing.
- You’ll design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant architectures using Domain-Driven Design principles to support evolving business needs.
- By collaborating closely with product managers and fintech specialists, you’ll define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- You will write clean, efficient, asynchronous and well-tested Python code, leveraging technologies like FastAPI, PostgreSQL, GCP, Pub/Sub and BigQuery.
- You will actively participate in code reviews, ensuring code quality and maintainability across the team.
- You will help maintain and improve our continuous delivery pipelines, enabling rapid and reliable deployment of features.
- You will take ownership of on-call duties, helping to quickly diagnose and resolve incidents while minimizing downtime.
- You will mentor and support mid-level engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth within the team, advocating for best practices and thoughtful design decisions.
What you will need
- You are skilled in asynchronous programming in Python 3.7+ and frameworks like FastAPI and SQLAlchemy
- You bring in the experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, as well as Redis and BigQuery. We expect you to take full ownership and responsibility for the data you manage.
- Your deep understanding of various architectural approaches, design patterns and RESTful API principles will enable you to design and maintain scalable, reliable, and extensible backend systems that integrate smoothly with frontend services.
- Your proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues demonstrates your attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, stable software.
- Excellent communication skills in English are a must. You should be comfortable engaging in technical discussions with peers and be able to clearly convey complex concepts to cross-functional teams, including product managers and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and shared understanding.
