Okta's Customer Identity Cloud (CIC), powered by Auth0 technology, is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for over 100 million daily logins worldwide.

The CIC Data Engineering Team

Within CIC, the Data Engineering team builds solutions to support analytics needs for the whole organization and is in charge of the Data Warehouse. It is divided into 2 groups:

  • Pipeline team, sitting closer to the Platform team and data producers and in charge of the efficient data ingestion and provision of quick access to unmodeled data
  • Warehouse team sitting closer to the business teams and data consumers and in charge of modeling the data in the data warehouse to abstract away the complexity for data consumers, simplifying the organization’s analysis, reporting and decision-making.

The Senior Data Engineer Opportunity

Reporting to the manager of the Data Engineering Warehouse team, the senior data engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines and models to create semantic models and support our data enablement initiatives in a frictionless environment. Collaborating closely with the business, ensure our data warehouse is a structured, accessible foundation for analytics use cases.

This data engineer will also be in charge of making new analytics products production-ready and of building the integrations to push data from the data warehouse to external systems.

You will…

  • Develop, and operate highly scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that enables rich security, eventing, and analytics use cases
  • Design and Build data models for optimal storage and retrieval and to meet critical product and business requirements.
  • Apply software engineering principles to create reliable, automated data solutions to solve critical business needs
  • Coach and mentor engineers to help scale up the engineering organization
  • Evaluate and advocate for modern technologies to accelerate delivery and improve engineering efficiency
  • Participate in team’s support rotation to build operational excellence on services we provide

 

You bring…

  • 4+ years of of software development experience in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • A deep understanding of SQL and data pipelines
  • Proficiency in DBT, Airflow, and cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and Redshift
  • Familiarity with modern programming languages such as Python, Go, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and container technologies such as Kubernetes, ECS, and Docker
  • Experience with Protocol Buffers is a plus.
  • Experience with reliability engineering around areas such as data quality, data observability and incident management
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
