eBay’s EEC Product Development team is based in Madrid and is part of
the global Core Product and Technology team. We enable commerce at
scale, and have massive customer impact. Whilst doing all this, we are
on a mission to improve eBay technology, drive agile adoption and
demonstrate customer-centric development targeted towards our customers
in Spain, Italy, France and other parts of Europe. While focused on
local market needs we also contribute to eBay’s global product and
technology portfolio. To do this, we improve existing experiences, build
or extend core products and experiment with new innovations to make the
lives of eBay customers better.
We are continually striving for
the highest quality, and work in small focused teams following bits of
Scrum, bits of Kanban, with a healthy dose of Extreme Programming (p.s.
these aren't buzzwords, we mean it when we say we do this stuff).
Our
cross-functional teams have Product Management, all aspects of Product
Development (including DevOps and Test), and UX all working together
every day. We are collocated with eBay’s EEC business teams and closely
interact with our European customers and other eBay teams on a daily
basis.
Working at eBay is a rewarding, challenging and inspiring experience.
So, what type of quality engineer are we looking for?
You’re
an experienced software tester who is excited by the challenge of
testing software at scale. You’re at home in an Agile environment and
your inquisitive nature and desire to dig into the unknown are two of
your strengths.
You have a deep
understanding of various testing approaches, including exploratory
testing and automation. You’re also comfortable with your skills and
experience in testing the ideas for new features just as much as testing
the designs, the code and the software itself, using a risk based
mind-set for structuring your testing.
Most
of our applications are written in Java, Scala or Javascript/Node.JS, so
ideally, you’ll be comfortable reading and understanding some of these
languages and pairing with programmers when they are writing code.
You’re
interested in applying programming skills yourself and contribute not
only from a testing perspective, but also from a developer perspective
in pairing sessions.
Our programmers are
serious about testing too and write their own unit tests as they code.
You’ll be a testing specialist in the team, facilitating that testing
mind-set during design and story breakdown as well as weighing in on
testing strategies and providing guidance and coaching within your agile
team and the wider community.
You will work
with people who care about well written, test-driven, clean code,
delightful user experiences. The team works very closely, and like to
pair on pretty much everything.
Our teams
decide the right tool for the job, so you should be comfortable doing
this too. We have a lot fun discussing the merits of different
technology and we want people who can join and lead these conversations.
Having
a desire to expand and master something new means you're a good fit for
us. Because of this culture, we also like our folks to be great
communicators while being open, honest and direct.
We
value individual contributors on the team and department level greatly,
and have a fantastic culture of recognising self-starters.
We
hope you're getting the idea of what we're looking for. We're looking
for great people, with an opinion, and the capability to back it up.
You are highly proficient in English and in one or more among Spanish, Italian, French.
