ABOUT THE ES GLOBAL OPERATIONS & ENGINEERING TEAM
 
The ES Global Operations & Engineering department is the central point of contact for all customers receiving operational services from Eurovision Services, coordinating the management of requirements and delivery for all events, transmission and media services between broadcasters, EBU Members, sport federations and event organisers. The ES Global Operations & Engineering department is responsible for delivering high-quality technical solutions and achieving ambitious operational objectives, implementing reliable delivery solutions to provide outstanding value and services for our customers, while optimising costs to improve our bottom line.
 
The Project Management Office (PMO) unit is the central point for the coordination of all operational projects managed by Eurovision Services. The members of the team play a vital role in the setup and delivery of events and services. They will always seek to meet the high expectations of Eurovision Services’ most demanding customers, while supervising the implementation of the most cost effective, efficient and reliable solutions possible.
 
With a clear and strong focus on customer needs and service excellence, the Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of projects allocated to them and coordinates their delivery by dedicated project teams and by following all the necessary steps in a pre-defined project management methodology.
 
The Project Manager takes over won deals from internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Eurovision Sport, Eurovision News etc.), understands the sold solution, establishes the competencies required for a given project, expresses staffing requirements to the relevant Head of Unit and aims to keep the project within its initially defined scope.
 
The Project Manager heads the overall coordination among operational stakeholders, provides status and budget overviews to his/her management and liaises constantly with the customer, ensuring a transparent, efficient and reactive customer experience. He/she must also ensure that the financial objectives are met for each event and that clear financial tracking and reporting is undertaken for every project.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
 
In this role as Project Manager you will:
  • Provide permanent feedback to the Manager of PMO to improve and further develop existing methodologies, tools and processes.
  • Take over multi-project responsibilities and handle individual workload accordingly.
  • Contribute to Bid Management during solution design phases for open opportunities by bringing in prior event experiences and operational expertise, as well as estimates of the human resources required from Operations for any given opportunity.
  • Once allocated to a won opportunity, take control of all aspects of the project, understand the delivery scope and break it down into human, financial and material requirements.
  • Establish project timeline and milestones for all involved parties and monitor and follow up on these.
  • Start and follow the project implementation by following the predefined methodology, phases and status.
  • Constantly target cost efficiency for all expenses made within the scope of the project by the project team and achieve financial objectives set by the Manager of PMO.
  • Implement regular, SMART, transparent and systematic status updates/dashboards for the customer, management and project team members.
  • Be able to provide, as and when required, transparent information about status and risk management for any active project under his/her management.
  • Ensure or delegate flawless handover of event aspects to relevant operational teams.
  • Ensure smooth service activation by providing customers with outstanding assistance during the activation phase, which can be delegated to the project team.
  • Perform systematic project closure by ensuring logistical and financial aspects are examined and closed before being handed over to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure a constructive and systematic debrief of each project by bringing together the customer, providers and the project team.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 
  • 5+ years of experience working in an international IT/telecom/broadcasting environment.
  • Demonstration of strong coordination and delivery culture.
  • Strong ability to work on multi-project dimensions in a high-pressure working environment.
  • Proven financial literacy and ability to manage budgets efficiently.
  • Excellent ability to drive colleagues towards a common goal.
  • Strong technical and market knowledge of the IT/telecom/broadcasting industry.
  • Experience in customer service management and the ability to build customer relations.
  • Effective communicator who is willing to embrace change and prioritise innovation.
  • Clearly proven ability to work well with people at all levels within a multi-cultural environment.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Professional level verbal and written communications skills.

Eurovision Labs in Madrid is the new technology hub for the EBU's new subsidiary, Eurovision Services. The Labs will be responsible for delivering media & broadcast core solutions applying the most advanced software engineering techniques. The new offices in Madrid are specifically designed to boost creativity and facilitate innovation and learning in an amicable work environment. As part of the technology team, you will be working with top international engineers specialized in media while seeing your developments applied in Tier-1 worldwide sports and news content. Education:
