About the Role

 

As a Senior General Manager, you are responsible for operational excellence, extending the Uber brand locally in multiple markets under your territory and developing the next generation of Uber talent. Working cross-functionally with our central marketing, legal, public affairs, and communication teams will be crucial to your success in this role. Continual improvement and a quality focus are the name of the game. We believe in solving local problems, so understanding your market and delivering custom messages is important. It’s the cross of the analytical with the creative problem solving that makes the Uber Sr GM an incredibly challenging job to fill.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a large operations organization in the Southwest Europe region (ie Portugal, Spain, Italy and Croatia), a key region for Uber in EMEA and globally in terms of current and future scale, growth, innovation
  • Work closely with a direct leadership team including Country Managers, Heads of Operations and Growth, Marketing, strategy leads, to drive the strategy and operations in the entire region
  • Build and develop strong relationships with senior cross-functional leaders (e.g., Central Ops, S&P, Marketing, Public Affairs, People Ops, CommOps, Greenlight, Legal/Regulatory, Finance) in order to successfully drive overall strategy, cross-functional execution and the long-term growth and profitability of the region
  • Set the cultural tone of the offices for the operations and cross-functional teams based in the region
  • Develop the next generation of leaders at Uber

What You’ll Need

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience, including large team management experience with a proven track record of managing managers
  • MBA or other post-experience/executive education degree or programme preferred, but not required
  • Strong leadership and people management skills - you can set the tone for your team and broader teams in the region; driving towards results while also being empathetic to their challenges - EQ is a must-have
  • Disciplined organizational skills - you’ll need to prioritize and manage hundreds of ongoing processes and projects simultaneously
  • Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking
