About the role 💼
We're looking for a backend engineer who wants to own core integrations, shape our infrastructure, and push the boundaries of reliability and scalability.
This isn’t just another backend role — it’s your chance to lead a mission-critical area of our platform from day one.
What You’ll Own 📝
You’ll be the technical lead for our POS integrations — architecting, scaling, and operating the backend systems that power haddock’s growth. Your work will directly impact how restaurants connect their systems and manage their business. You’ll:
- Design and implement new integrations with external POS providers and services
- Extend and maintain existing connectors with an eye toward robustness and reuse
- Drive infrastructure improvements for scalability, observability, and security
- Collaborate with the rest of the team on architecture and deployment
- Set standards for integration quality, reliability, and performance
What We're Looking For 📚
- Product mindset – you empathize with users (e.g., restaurants), prioritize impactful work, and communicate clearly across teams
- Backend focus – strong skills in server‑side development (TypeScript/Node, Python, Go, etc.) and database modeling
- Infrastructure expertise – experience managing services in cloud environments (GCP or AWS or Azure, Docker, CI/CD, monitoring/logging)
- Integration know‑how – comfortable with REST APIs, webhooks, and async patterns (message queues, retries)
- Ownership mentality – proactive, resourceful, and comfortable leading technical decisions
- Experience – 2–5+ years building and operating backend systems at scale
- Languages – fluency in Spanish, and comfortable with English (projects and incidents are written in English, and we work with some international clients).
Extras we love⚡️️
- Experience working with POS systems or in the restaurant/HORECA sector or accounting software
- Familiar with domain‑driven design or microservices
- Background in incident response, SRE practices, or service-level objectives
Why You'll Love It ⭐
You’ll join a team that values curiosity, resilience, and growth. We’re building something big at haddock, and we want someone who’s ready to grow with us, take ownership, and play a pivotal role in our success.
- Ownership from day one – lead this mission-critical area as we expand
- Fast‑growing impact – integrations are core to scaling haddock into new markets
- Cross‑functional influence – work with product, customer success, and engineering to shape flow and experience
