The Red Hat Quality Engineering team is looking for an Automation Engineer to join us in Spain/Italy/Portugal. In this role, you will work on a project from the Red Hat OpenShift Developer Tools offering. Your duties will include understanding project requirements, designing and inventing solutions for the automation of CI processes, implementing test scenarios, increasing testing coverage, encouraging DevOps practices, and enabling continuous delivery of our solutions. You will be responsible for all aspects of the quality of the product, including developing new automated tests for APIs or GUIs, design performance, and usability tests. As an Automation Engineer, you will have the chance to work with some of the brightest engineers in the open-source industry while acting as an advocate for our customers. We'll need you to have excellent technical and creative thinking skills, as you'll be encouraged to develop innovative solutions to technical issues daily. This position is a great opportunity to make a difference in building innovative tools for developers while working on solutions used by tens of thousands of people around the world.
What you will do
- Research, develop, and implement test automation tools and frameworks to enable a high degree of test automation
- Develop and carry out functional, integration, usability, performance, regression, or other types of tests
- Be able to provide summary reports regarding software defects in any area of the project or dependent technology and advocate their resolution with developers
- Act as an internal advocate for the customers and participate in interacting with the user community or customers
- Constantly learn new things and maintain an overview of current technologies
- Collaborate with software developers, support, and documentation teams
- Follow agile principles
What you will bring
- Practical experience in Typescript or JavaScript language
- Experience with CI/CD systems, any of GitHub Actions, Jenkins, OpenShift pipelines (Tekton) or similar
- Experience with runtimes, testing frameworks or tools, ie. Node.js, Vite, npm, Playwright, Vitest, Mocha or similar
- Experience with Git or any other version control system
Experience with the following is considered a plus:
- Experience with technologies like Kubernetes, Containers, Podman, Docker, Compose or OpenShift
- Experience with languages like Bash, Groovy, Python or Go
- Familiarity with agile methodologies
- Knowledge of multiple OSes (linux, Windows, Mac OS)
